UL, NRTL & North American Compliance Documentation
Riches PowerTech provides project-specific testing, compliance documentation and certification support for North American electrical equipment. Available documentation may include UL-standard test reports, third-party test reports, certificates of conformity, component certifications and project-specific inspection or certification documents.
Where third-party laboratory testing is used, the applicable laboratory accreditation, test scope and certification pathway are identified in the project documentation. A test report should not be interpreted as a UL Listing unless a separate UL Listing or NRTL certification is specifically issued.

Understanding Our Certification Documentation
The following table explains the different types of certification and compliance documentation referenced on this website and in our project deliverables.
| Type | Meaning | Documentation | When Used |
|---|---|---|---|
| UL Listed | Product or equipment is formally listed by an applicable certification organization. | Listing / certification information. | When specifically required by the project specification or AHJ. |
| UL Recognized | Component-level recognition for use within an approved end product. | UL Recognition information. | Components used inside control panels and electrical equipment. |
| Tested to UL Standard | Equipment or samples have been tested against specified requirements of a UL Standard. | Test report. | Engineering and technical evaluation. |
| Certificate of Conformity | A third-party document stating conformity with specified requirements. | Certificate. | Project documentation and procurement review. |
| NRTL Certification | Certification issued under an applicable NRTL certification program. | Certification mark / listing information. | Where an NRTL-listed product is required. |
| Field Evaluation | Evaluation of specific equipment at a particular site or installation. | Field evaluation label/report. | Certain project-specific AHJ situations. |
| Project-Specific / Batch Certification | Certification or inspection applicable to a defined project, production batch or equipment scope. | Project-specific certification/inspection documentation. | When required by the project or AHJ. |
Electrical Safety & Performance
Type test reports verifying compliance with international low-voltage switchgear standards for dielectric properties, temperature-rise, short-circuit withstand strength, and mechanical integrity.
Environmental Compliance
Test reports confirming compliance with global restricted substance regulations including RoHS 2.0, EU REACH SVHC, and US California Proposition 65.
Electromagnetic Compatibility
EMC emission and immunity test reports covering conducted/radiated emissions, harmonic currents, voltage fluctuations, ESD, surge, and RF susceptibility per international standards.
Third-Party Certificates of Conformity
Certificates of conformity based on applicable test programs, issued by third-party laboratories. These documents confirm conformity with the referenced standards under the applicable test scope.
Certification Notice
Certification status varies by product, configuration, component selection and project requirements. References to UL, CSA, NRTL or other standards do not by themselves indicate that a complete finished product is formally listed or certified. Customers should request the applicable certification documents for the specific equipment and configuration before purchase or installation.
Final approval and acceptance are subject to the applicable project specifications, electrical code requirements, certification requirements and the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ).
